Child Safety Seat
In this country, Four
out of Five Child Safety Seats are being used incorrectly.
The number one PREVENTABLE
cause for injuries and deaths to children in this country
stems in part from the incorrect use or lack of use of an
approved Child Safety Seat.
Menlo Park Police Department offers
Child Safety Seat inspections/installations by appointment
only. Please call 650.330.6397 for an appointment.
In order to properly use a child safety
seat the parents/guardians should bring the Safety Seat and
all of its parts, the vehicles owner's manual and the child
safety seat instructions to any appointment.
Never have your child's safety seat
inspected or installed by anyone who is NOT
a trained technician. A trained technician is someone certified
by NHTSA/AAA each year, certification lasts only 12 months.
The seat that you use should fit your
vehicle, your child and your budget. You should ALWAYS
read the instructions for the seat and your vehicles owner's
manual. The seat should be clean and free of defects.
